Picture Time!
These are pictures I've had on my phone for months and have been meaning to upload - finally got around to getting them off my phone last night. Sadly, most are a little out of focus. But beggars can't be choosers y'know, I'm glad I have some kind of pictures even if they aren't the best.

First from Capitol Books (I think that's the name) in downtown Lansing:

I only noticed last night when looking these over that I was right next to [info]jimhines  book, Goblin Hero, on the shelf! Very neat. This was sometime during the summer and I went back into the store and this copy was gone, so hopefully that means someone sold it. They don't have any more copies at the moment but I'm very happy they sold this copy.

Next, these are at Schuler Books at their Eastwood Towne Center branch:

This was actually a few months ago, I think in mid-summer. They recently got a couple more copies (which I have signed) but they aren't on display like this at the moment, at least not the last time I was in there. There is one in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy section and another in the local author section (or Michigan section, whichever it is called).

Close-up (I guess) of the book at Schulers.

At some point I was at the Potter Park Zoo and looked over their Animal Adoption Honor Roll list. For those that don't know, I adopt an animal at the Zoo whenever I sell a certain amount of copies of the book. You can learn more about it at www.magicofeyri.com/cares.

This was after I adopted the Screech Owl and White-Eyed Assassin Bug. Either I wasn't on the list for the Pelican (my first adoption) or I forgot to snap a picture of it. And unbeknown to me - there is another me adopting animals! That is why I made sure to specify they list "Eyri Cares" after my name. See, those advertising and public relations classes paid off. There are too many Daniel Hogans out there, I honestly think that I'll have to use a different name if I ever get published by someone else.

Yeah...my camera phone ain't the best.

Now I need to get these on my websites in the near future.

Wait -- Capital Books? There's a local bookstore I didn't know about? How the #@$(*& did that happen?

Thank you ... I gotta go do some quick research.

Also, on a totally random note, I think the cartoon-style cover on your book works really well. Given the popularity of anime and manga right now, I suspect that cover is helping get your books into peoples' hands. Very nice.

I think it is Capitol Books or Capital Books or Capitol City Books...it is downtown right across from The Firm and next to the Hallmark shop.

I'm glad you like the cover. That is why I asked my friend Michael (www.drakered.com) to do the art, I liked his style and thought it was a good match for the story. People love the cover, and yes I think that has helped me get more than a few sales.

The funny thing is that most of the time when I give people my promo cards with the picture of the cover on the front they think it is a graphic novel (something else I wouldn't mind doing).

Aaawwwww, trying to guilt trip me because I don't have it displayed face-out right now, aren't ya? ;)

I had a neat idea for your next round of buttons, should you care to make some more. It might be neat to try to get pictures of the animals that you have adopted, and make a button up of each one of them. Help with your cross promotions, if the zoo would allow it.

Guilt trip? Me? Certainly not ;) Believe me, I'm happy just to be at the party, I don't care where I'm sitting.

That is a good idea actually, I'll make note of it in my Personal Analog Assistant.

Ah, but you do have a great seat at that party. :) In the lineup on top of the case, you're right next to William Gibson, Terry Goodkind, Charlene Harris, and sitting on top of Frank Herbert (although, now that I think about it, that entire row might have gotten shuffled over one case with all of the backstock and shelving I did this weekend, which would put you over top of. . .Raymond Fiest. God, that's scary that I know that, huh?) :) For anyone not familiar with the setup of my store, the bookcases that hold just the mass market paperbacks have a flat top, which I use to put displays and extra stock. The books in the case are alphabetical by author, the display on the top is not always. :)

haha that reminds me of my Blockbuster days. I could tell someone where exactly to find a movie, which row, which shelf, next to which movies.
